[BEGINNER] Can't call initial Authorization API from Postman

Hi, I’m new here.

Sorry about the beginner question, I’m looking at the API documentation and I can’t seem to get the authorization token via Postman.

I’m calling https://api-sandbox.dwolla.com/token with Authorization: Basic <client_id>:<client_secret> (base64 encoded), with Content-Type = application/x-www-form-urlencoded

However I’m still getting the following response:

"message": "Missing or invalid Authorization header."
}

I know the credentials are valid because I can get an OAuth token from the dashboard at https://dashboard-sandbox.dwolla.com/applications-legacy

Hi @firstbrick, thank you for posting! Have you taken a look at importing the Dwolla Postman collection? It should contain an OAuth folder which has the request you’ll make to obtain an access token. You’d just need to updated your client_id and client_secret in the Authorization tab (shown below) or set them as environment or collection variables.

Hi Spencer, thank you so much for this! This collection is super useful for someone like me who is trying this out for the first time! I really appreciate it!

P.S. It turns out my original bug was a typo in the header, I had ‘grant-type’ instead of ‘grant_type’, hard to see but super apparent once I grabbed the one in your collection and put them side by side. Thanks again for your help!
