# Type of Transfer?

In the integration guide, it requires telling the customer the “type of transfer” once a transfer is completed.
I am wondering what it’s refering to? I couldn’t find any reference in dwolla trasnfer for the type of it? Is it freely defined by us, or there is a rule to follow?

If it is from or to a bank account it is an ACH transfer because it uses the ACH network. When we do transfers between customers we call it a Dwolla balance transfer because it doesn’t interact with a bank account and processes immediately. Their docs don’t give any specifics on other kinds of transfers.
It may also refer to the ‘channels’ key when creating a funding source (you can specify wire or ach(default)) but I’m unsure if that is related.
