Is this common with certain sandbox endpoints?
Is it a known thing that the sandbox api is slower or should we be concerned this will be the case in production too?
The biggest issue, beyond the poor UX of making the user wait, is that we’re on heroku which will timeout if the request goes over 30 seconds

We were able to track this down and we believe we applied a solution. The response times should be lowered and back to normal in Sandbox. When you get a chance, please check it out and let us know if you’re seeing otherwise!
Our Sandbox environment should have similar performance to our production environment. However, due to Production having a higher volume of traffic, we do typically allocate more power for that environment.
