Assistance testing the Dwolla API sandbox

Dwolla has a new API sandbox for developer testing but it’s a very early alpha phase. Looking for 5-10 people to help us privately test.

If interested, here is some information on how to test.

Would love to have you involved. Until then… Here’s a sneak peak.

Looking for 5-10 people. Let me know if you’re interested!

Ben,

Count me in for the private test of the sandbox. Couple of things I would be looking for in the sandbox.

  • Ability to tap into an account with high volume of transactions with various accounts
  • Accounts with all the different types of funding sources available. That way we can verify that the funding source drop downs we use are populating correctly.
  • Send money without sending real money. Have the no fees under $10 helps, but it still not ideal.

Thanks,
Chris

Excellent!

Got a bunch of feedback last night! Thank you!

Sending out instructions now.

@ChrisRouw - Sent yourself and @kwashut a note.

I think you’ll be pleased. With the sandbox you can:

  • Upload any number of accounts with test data
  • Test bank account transactions (no support yet for FiSync or Credit)
  • Exchange numbers in the test system, with no actual money being exchanged

Alright folks. Last round of requests is finished up. Look forward to your feedback.

@bpmilne, is there a way to generate oauth tokens for the test accounts?

Hey Joe,

This isn’t currently available in the sandbox, but it’s something we’ve been hearing more of so we’re working on getting it added to the backlog. We’ll update this post once it’s live!

Thanks for the feedback!

@jared, I was able to generate oauth tokens for my test users.
Here is how I did it:

  1. Created a sandbox account
  2. Created an application
  3. Added test accounts
  4. Used the latest (2.5.2) dwolla-ruby gem in sandbox mode (Dwolla.sandbox = true)
  5. Used the gem to create a token for the test account (not the sandbox account) https://github.com/Dwolla/dwolla-ruby/blob/master/examples/oauth.rb

I’m not sure if this is intended or not, but at that point I was able to send money between test accounts using the gem (To wrap the API).
As far as I can tell this will work for me until there is a simpler way to generate tokens for a test user on a sandbox app.

@bpmilne @gordon would it be possible to implement locations for generated Dwolla users? I’m working on some location stuff but it’s really difficult to test since I’m not stateside.

Great! Yep, you can use any of our SDKs to get access tokens for your test users provided you’re willing to go through the OAuth flow. Adding tokens to the sandbox interface would just be a way for you to easily get a token to hard code into your app for testing purposes.

No reason to e-mail me this point:) Guidance is here!
