Can the Dwolla add soft descriptors?

Can Dowlla add soft descriptors?

@Rob_Austin, Can you clarify what you mean by soft descriptors? Are you looking to customize additional data that could potentially show up on your customer’s bank statements?

Exactly

We don’t allow for custom descriptors at this time, however it is something we’re looking to support at some point in the future. I’ll be sure to pass along your feedback to our product team! Keep an eye out on our blog for any product related updates.

Hey @Spencer, thanks for the information here. Has this feature been added in the last two years?

Hi @andrewhartman, ACH uses Addenda records for passing in supplemental information along with a payment. Check out that link and let us know if you have any questions!

Hi @Spencer, thank you for the reply! I see in the documentation the following " Note: This feature is only supported for business Customer records.". Our platform does verified customer to receive-only users (not business customers). Am I reading correctly that this would not be supported? If no, is there any plan to bring this to the platform? In our use case, it would be helpful from a Customer Support perspective to provide additional context (e.g. Transaction ID) to better support customer’s with any questions on transactions.

Hi @andrewhartman – there aren’t any plans in the nearest future to support Addenda records on non-business accounts. In the meantime, I would be glad to log this feedback for our Product team!

Hi @shreya, thank you for the update! I think this would be incredibly valuable from a branding and clarity perspective, both to us and others. Our primary use case would be in clarity for the sender and recipient on what the payment was for, as well as an ID to make Customer Support as efficient as possible when responding to questions about the nature of a transaction. Thank you for sharing with your product team!

I just want to follow-up and say I completely agree with Andrew’s comment. It would be a huge help to have this feature and we, too, do verified customer → receive-only. Thanks for taking our feedback.

Hi @shreya! Here’s another person who would also really appreciate this info being added. We cannot use Dwolla for our needs without this additional data coming through on bank statements. Thank you!

Thanks @taylorclark and @Ellen_Ortiz!

I will relay the feedback back to the team!

It would be tremendously helpful to add on who paid onto bank statements.

Yes please add this feature. We need to be able to show a statement descriptor on your clients bank, otherwise they are unable to keep track of what payment is what.

Hey @shreya, I just wanted to mention that my company would also really like to be able to customize the statement descriptor per transfer for non-business customers. Thanks!
