If I have a customer on my application with a US bank account but isn’t a citizen of the US, can I connect their bank as a funding source to Dwolla through Plaid?
Hi @opensaucerer, it isn’t necessary that the customer be a US citizen, but rather a legal US resident. As long as they as are a US resident, they should be able to transact using Dwolla!
@shreya similar question - what visas (if any) does Dwolla support? For example, can clients with H1B, J1, etc. still qualify to use all of Dwolla’s services?
Hi @Theodore_K, those visas do qualify. However, I do want to clarify that we do not verify an individual’s specific visa status and do not require this information. Any US residents who are legally living in the US and have opened bank accounts qualify to use Dwolla’s services.
OK great thank you!
@shreya Thank you for the clarification. Just one more extension. Creating an unverified customer doesn’t require any CIP step whatsoever. Does this mean my customers with US bank accounts that may or may not be US residents can still be linked to Dwolla using Plaid as a funding source but will never be able to move out of the unverified state because they are not US residents/citizens but will at least still be able to make limited transfers?
Hi @opensaucerer, that’s correct! They can still transact as Unverified Customers with other Verified Customers and Accounts.
