Hello, I need your help with updating one of my customer’s fields.
The customer ID is: 7f3a4712-7efd-4168-a23f-9f811830933e
During the creation process of an account the customer mis-typed the year in the DoB, and he typed 1973 instead of 1975 in the year field. Hence none of the documents are correct and they can’t pass your internal verifications.
Now, we have a re-verification process done in our system, but I’m unable to persuade the customer to go over this process. It’s cause they are top-brass and that much important.
It’s huge client of ours and I just want to see if we could just update the field internally in the database, without asking them to do this manually.
Thanks for reaching out. I understand you’re in a difficult position with your customer and the need to correct their date of birth.
For security and compliance reasons, critical identity information, such as a Date of Birth, cannot be updated by us after it has been submitted for verification. This information is fundamental to the Customer Identification Program (CIP) check that is performed upon creation, and our system is designed to lock this data to protect the integrity of that verification.
The best path forward is to have the end-user complete your re-verification process. If you have their information on file, then you could submit information on their behalf via the API as well.
If that isn’t possible, the only other option is to deactivate the current Dwolla Customer record and create a new one with the correct date of birth. This will ensure all information is accurate and properly verified from the start.
I know this isn’t the direct internal change you were hoping for, but this process ensures the account information is secure and auditable for everyone involved.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
